1. Open MS Paint – Just type “Paint” into the search bar of your start menu if you’re using Vista or Windows 7

2. Draw anything you like.

3. Click the Save button and add “.ico” to the end of the name (without the quotes).

4. Now set the size to 48×48 or 32×32 pixels by clicking the “Resize” button near the top left-hand corner of MS Paint.

Some Tips To Make It Look A Bit Better Better

It can can be hard to draw something really nice if you aren’t very creative, but here’s some tips to make it look cool.

1. Choose a background colour that is the same as your folder background color. Usually your folder background will be white, so stick to the same colour to make the edges of your icon look transparent. Same goes for your desktop background, try to use the same colour.

2. Add some text to make it a bit more appealing.

3. Use some funky fonts from the character map and try to use the best size possible.

4. You can also change the colour of the text while you’re writing in MS Paint.

How To Set It As An Icon

You can use your custom icon for any of your favourite applications….

1. Right-click any application and select Properties

2. Click the Shortcut tab, then Change Icon. You can then brows to the place where you saved you custom icon. It would be a good idea to put the icon in the same directory as the application that uses it, just in case it gets lost.
